Education
Children learn in different ways at different rates. My goal is to help each child succeed and do their very best. I teach age appropriate skills through exciting and engaging activities - learning through PLAY! We read stories, experience music, explore senses, learn to use different art tools and mediums, and engage in active play for physical development.
Discipline
Positive reinforcement and a daily schedule is used to prevent problems from occurring. Discipline issues in my home are few. However, young children need to be redirected when misbehaving. If children misbehave the following procedure will be taken:
1. Verbal warning
2. Loss of privilege or object
3. Time out - 1 minute for every year old
Caretakers will be notified of discipline problems upon pick-up of child
This is our "Compliment Jar" that is used as positive reinforcement. Verbal praise and affection is given throughout the day when the child makes good decisions. When I catch a child being "extra" good, they may put a puff ball in the compliment jar! Once the compliment jar is full, then we all get to have a special surprise (Ice cream, pizza party, etc.)!
